福音のヒント
(1) ヨハネ13章から始まった最後の晩さんの席でのイエスの説教は、イエスが世を去り、目に見える形ではいなくなるが、違う形で居続ける、という大きな約束です。その中で聖霊を送る約束が4箇所あります(14章16-17節、14章26節、15章26節、16章7-15節)。きょうの箇所はその最後の部分から採られています。この約束はイエスの復活後に実現します。「彼らに息を吹きかけて言われた。『聖霊を受けなさい。･･･』」(ヨハネ20章22節)。
「真理の霊」の「真理」はギリシア語では「アレーテイアaletheia」と言います。元の意味は「隠されていないこと」です。ギリシア人にとって、真理とは、ふつうは見えないが覆いを取られて現れてくるそのものの本当の姿だと言えるでしょう。一方、真理と訳されるヘブライ語は「エメト」です。この言葉は「アーメン(確かに)」という言葉と同じ語根で「確かなもの、頼りになるもの」を表します。ヨハネ福音書の「真理」には「隠れていた神の本質が現されること」というギリシア語的なニュアンスと「本当に確かで、頼りになるもの」というヘブライ語的なニュアンスの両面があると考えられます。
「ヨハネ福音書における真理とはイエスご自身のことである」と言った人がいます。イエスこそ、神の本当の姿を明らかにした方であり、わたしたちの救いのために本当に確かで頼りになる方なのです。「真理の霊」と言われる聖霊の働きは、何よりも真理であるイエスにわたしたちを結びつけることだと言ったらよいかもしれません。人間の力を超える何かしら大きな力を感じたとしても、それを聖霊の働きだということはできません。大切なのは、その力がわたしたちをイエスとその生き方(愛)に結びつけるかどうかなのです。
(2) 16章13節で「その方」と訳されている言葉はギリシア語では男性形の指示代名詞ですが、もちろん聖霊のことを指しています。「霊(プネウマpneuma)」はギリシア語では中性名詞なので、中性形の指示代名詞(訳せば「それ」)が使われてもおかしくないのですが、ヨハネはあえて男性形で書いています。これはヨハネ14章16節などで聖霊が男性名詞の「弁護者(パラクレートスparakletos)」と呼ばれているからでしょうか。聖霊とは、素朴に言えば「神の(あるいは復活したイエス)の目に見えない働き」と言うことができます。しかし、ヨハネ福音書は、単なる「働き」ではなく、弟子たちのうちにとどまり、いつも弟子たちとともにいてくださる「方」という面を強調して、聖霊のことを人格を持つもののように語っているのだとも考えられます。
ここでの聖霊の働きは「真理をことごとく悟らせる」ことです。「真理をことごとく」と訳された部分は「真理全体を」とも訳せるような言葉が使われています。「悟らせる」には「道案内する、導く」という意味の言葉が使われています。イエスはこれまで、いろいろな言葉を語ってきました。しかし、これからは聖霊が弟子たちを導くのです。聖霊の導きは、イエスがこれまで語ってきたことと別のことではなく、イエスが語られたことを、わたしたちにもっと深く理解させ、わたしたちがわたしたちの現実の中でイエスの言葉をどう生きるべきかをはっきりと示すことだと言えるのではないでしょうか。
(3) 「唯一の神が父と子と聖霊である」という三位一体の教えは、学者が頭の中で考え出した教えではありません。イエスの弟子たちの救いの体験をもとにして、古代のキリスト教の発展の中で最終的にまとめられた表現なのです。
イエスは、2000年前に一回限りの地上の生涯を生き、その言葉と生き方をもって、決定的な形で神を示してくださいました。イエスの派遣は人間に対する神からの決定的な救いの働きかけでした。弟子たちはイエスの生涯とその最後を見て、そのことを確信するに至りました。この確信を弟子たちは「イエスこそがキリストである」という言葉で表現し、人々に伝えていきますが、その福音告知の活動の中で、自分たちがいつも神によって支えられ、大きな力で導かれていることを体験しました。その体験を彼らは「聖霊がわたしたちのうちに働いている」と表現したり、「復活して今も生きておられるイエスがともにいる」(マタイ28章20節参照)と表現したのです。この働きは、そのときから2000年後の今に至るまで、キリスト信者が経験してきていることだとも言えるでしょう。
(4) つまり、神は二通りの仕方で、人間に対する決定的な働きかけをしてくださったということになります。
1つは「イエス」＝歴史の中で一回限り。明確な言葉と生き方をもって語りかける。
もう1つは「聖霊」＝いつの時代のどこの人にも。心の中に直接働きかける。
大切なのは、「三位一体」という言葉よりも、この二通りの神の働きかけをわたしたちがしっかりと受け取ることではないでしょうか。きょうの「福音のヒント」の図が示そうとしているのは、三位一体そのものというよりも、父と子と聖霊とわたしたちの関係です。上から下に向けての線は、上で述べた神の二通りの働きかけを表しています。これに対して、下から上に向かう線は、わたしたちが神に向かうときの姿勢を表しています。わたしたちは、イエスの言葉と生き方を見つめ、わたしたちの内面に直接働きかける神の力(聖霊)に支えられて、御父に向かって歩みます。祈りの体験もそうでしょう。聖霊という内面的に働きかける神の力があるからわたしたちは祈ることができます。そしてわたしたちの祈りは、いつもイエスをとおして(イエスの祈りに結ばれて)、御父にささげられるのです。
わたしたちは、そういうダイナミックな神との関わりを生きているでしょうか？
